Etowah River trip

Program Description

This is true canoe camping adventure!  One delighted scoutmaster commented:  "Dennis, Thanks for leading our canoe trip down the Etowah this past weekend... We'll add this outing to our list of trips worth repeating.  My personal compliments to you on the way you conducted the training/preparation, as well as directing the actual trip down river."


Crew size:  Minimum 6, maximum 14.

What to Bring

Swimming attire and towel
Shoes that can get wet
Current medical form
Sun protection (hat, sunglasses, sun block)
Bring your own food and gear
Pack light so you can go farther

Requirements

Adults must be certified in Safety Afloat and
Safe Swim Defense.
At least one adult must be currently certified
in CPR.
All must have basic canoe proficiency
(re: Safety Afloat):
– Launch, paddle in tandem from the stern a
straight course.
– Exit canoe in deep water and get back in
without swamping.
– With a buddy, paddle a swamped canoe to
shore.
